THE SOUND OF GAMMA

SHOOT DIRECTION
Following hot on the heels of the success of Gamma at the Movies, for the next big roadshow event the team at Gamma were eager to flex their creative muscles once more, but this time they wanted to tread the boards and put their spin on the world of big screen musicals.
As with the previous year’s Gamma at the Movies, musicals were chosen with titles that could be changed to reflect the industry jargon and terminology in a playful manner that would set the tone for the production. This time around, instead of a trailer for the event the concept was put forward to utilise the cast of Gamma across as many different musical roles as possible and film them as if auditioning for the various lead roles.
Once again, the willing management team made their way to the shoot and transformed themselves into character, from Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion from the wizard of Oz, through to an ensemble cast for Mama Mia!
Each of the cast members were filmed firstly for the audition tape and then additional stills were taken for the creation of the supporting posters that would be used around the venues. Each cast member had multiple costume changes to manage and to add to the fun on the shoot, a real life Toto could be found wondering around the set!
The BFI IMAX at London Waterloo was the venue for the last leg of the Sound of Gamma roadshow. It was here on the enormous screen that the audition tapes created against the green screen studio background played out to set the scene for the keynote speakers and to begin the conference in earnest.
